ARTICLE #3: STORK SPECIAL DELIVERY BABY SHOWER

Party Themes

When throwing a party, having a theme can make the planning a lot easier. It can ensure that you coordinate everything well and that things don’t look just shoved together, but truly planned and well thought out.

The kind of party that you are having will help steer the theme in the right direction. For example a baby shower would be a more specific and cute theme whereas a wedding should have a cleaner more simple theme like a color scheme or white with pearls. A birthday party theme is often much less elaborate than others. So you see, the kind of party will help determine the theme it has.

Once you pick a theme you can start thinking about how much you want the theme to show in the party. Do you want it everywhere or do you want touches here and there? Also, for weddings with color themes, where to use those colors, how to best use them to make them shine is important.

Having one cohesive look can really pull an event together. The food, the decorations, the gifts even, can all be themed, making the event look very pulled together. Sometimes it is the small and cute details that people remember, like how well you used the theme in the smaller elements. One baby shower had a stork airline theme and everyone’s gift was in tiny luggage bags. Now that is a touch they will remember because that person went the extra mile. Sometimes it is the simplicity of the theme making everything perfect, like one or two stork details and a general color theme for the rest like white and pink or blue, or green if the sex is unknown. No matter which way you go with it, the theme can make any party.

While picking the theme though, be sure to pick something the guest of honor will love. You might like a party where there are birds carrying babies and feathers and diapers everywhere, but maybe your friend is a bit simpler and would like a simple two color theme. Always throw the party for the person it is meant for, constantly keeping their personal tastes in mind.
